Devin the Dude loves weed. So dropping a new album on April 20th entitled Suite 420 was almost as predictable as Kanye ripping the mic out of Taylor Swift's hands. And just as satisfying. For hardcore Dude fans, it's the same rapper being playfully elitist about his narcotic of choice and justifying it with tasteful rhythmic structures that are southern and cool. Casual fans might be slightly aghast at how dissimilar any new songs are to "What a Job". It's whatever, here's a bit of both.

Janelle Monáe

The new album from Janelle Monáe drops May 18. Her songs brim with wailing vocals and attitude and a couple tracks even get that special touch from collaborators Big Boi and Of Montreal. Monáe's first single off The ArchAndroid showcases her eccentric hybrid of jazz and soul style. She takes a hurried soul beat and exchanges back and forth between sassy and maniacal on the vocals, only briefly relinquishing the spotlight for a spastic horn soli and a smugly casual few bars from Big Boi.

Big Boi, the often overshadowed counterpart to Andre 3000 in Southern hip-hop duo OutKast, has a new album dropping in July. A few tracks have leaked with featured artists ranging from Gucci Mane, Raekwon, Andre himself to even the master of all that is funky, George Clinton. With all this music sounding spectacular, Sir Luscious Left Foot is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated albums of 2010. Everyone who was willing to give both OutKast discs a listen back when Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was released will probably love this album. Check out this new one: low pitch talkbox hasn't been this fun since "Pony" (or Frampton if you're really gonna be like that). Turn it up, cut a rug.
