Bringin' New Back: The Black Keys

After collaborating with the likes of ODB (look below), Raekwon, and Ludacris on the Blakroc project, the Black Keys are coming back with some new fire.

There's a new track out from their upcoming record, and it's a greasy, dirty, grimy, nasty piece of work.  They show their Midwest blues colors, going traditional with it, throwing in some synthesized church organs along the way and keeping with the chords and licks method.  The riffs are powerful, Dan Auerbach's vocals are soulfully biting, and they're still rollin'.  Right before they exit the song, there is an epic final verse breakdown that is clearly the doings of producer Danger Mouse.  A distorted Daft Punk-era-esque voice pops in and winds down, then they change the chord progression to a jumpy, staccato bang-bang-bang that is completely fitting for these heavyweights. Bam!

"Tighten Up" and you'll never be the same again.

Their sixth LP Brothers drops May 18th.
