Alcest

French metal group Alcest, the project of multi-instrumentalist Neige, recently came out with a new album, "Ecailles de Lune." Though Neige comes from a black metal background, this release features just as many dreamlike shoegaze spaceouts as it does blastbeats and screams.

Check out "Solar Song" below. Layers of soft, fuzzy guitars provide a swelling, uplifting accompaniment to Neige's ethereal vocals. Glacial harmonics echo in the background along with drummer Winterhalter's steady beat. This track wouldn't even seem out of place alongside My Bloody Valentine or Sigur Ros--it's simply beautiful.
