Heavy Rotation: Broken Social Scene

True to their unique concoction of soft and wacky indie rock, Broken Social Scene delivered one of my favorite records of the year in May. Experimenting less with genre bending and supplemental noise, the group's more straightforward release should garner the attention of any budding fan. For those who weren't convinced by my last post, here's another fantastic track, plus a classic.

Heavy Rotation: Big Boi

I love opera just as much as the next guy. So, naturally, since I've found this Big Boi gem floating around the nets I've played it enough times for my neighbors to think intergalactic wars might be going down in my basement. Couldn't be more excited about the new LP. See for yourself.

Heavy Rotation: Sleigh Bells

So far this is my most played song of the summer. Sporting a Funkadelic sample more powerful than Dr. Dre flashing his Funkadelic shirt in his "Wit Dre Day" video, Sleigh Bells' most smooth and sensuous track on the new album flows like your neighborhood ain't got no speed bumps. Add that to teenage self-conscious stream of thought ("Keep thinkin bout every straight face yes wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces") and you have the essential bohemian summer jam for the block party and the bedroom.
