Opeth

When they aren't riding alligators, the members of Opeth make superb progressive death metal. In fact, their combination of atmospheric doom and pastoral acoustic passages makes them my favorite band (tied with Radiohead). In September, Mikael Akerfeldt and Co. are unleashing In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, a documentation of their twentieth anniversary concert at one of England's most famous venues. Now, I wouldn't usually cover a live release, but at this show, Opeth played and recorded their 2001 masterpiece Blackwater Park in its entirety. Sample a bit of the carnage with "Dirge for November."
