Omar Rodriguez Lopez of The Mars Volta and ex-Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante have just released a low-fi collaboration online. Here are seven tracks of introspective, melodic guitar duets, with the occasional synth and drum machine chiming in. Thankfully, the album strays from the self-indulgent psychedelic freakouts that keep Rodriguez Lopez's solo albums permanently mired in WTF-land. What you get is a surprisingly chilled out listen. You can download the album for FREE here, or choose to include a donation to "Keep music in schools" programs across the nation.
