Flying Lotus- "Computer Face//Pure Being"

Electro/dubstep wizard Flying Lotus' third album Cosmogramma dropped May 3, and it is just cool. He bends genres like Prince does genders, and the near-overwhelming result is like a Christmas stocking overflowing with aural goodies. In "Computer Face//Pure Being", barely kept straight by a hi-hat and bass, he layers on a synth that could have been played by Bernie Worrell, Ratatat-style yelps and squeaks, and other various noises too numerous to identify. The result is a chaotic third-grade collage of sound that somehow all works, and requires multiple listens to hear everything that is going on. Stay tuned for the last few seconds, featuring a delightful fiddle breakdown perfectly overlaid over the ubiquitous backbeat.
