Part rapper/part crooner Aloe Blacc has a new album coming up from Stones Throw Records this summer. This track doubles as the first single and the theme song for HBO's How to Make It in America (appropriate only at first glance). Lyrically it's your average hustler anthem but Blacc's voice, naturally bold and soulful, livens the the tune without forcing technical wails into the verses. I'm definitely hearing some Bill Withers influence. The production's great too, who wouldn't want keys and horns behind meditations like these?
